My passenger side light was intermittently going off, I jiggled the connection at the back of the headlight which seemed to sort it, but when I closed the bonnet it went off again. I gave it another jiggle but I heard a small noise, and now both passenger and drivers slide lights dont work Evil or Very Mad

I have quickly checked both fuse boxes and all looks ok, where sshould I start in tracking down the problem? Sad

Cheers

Edit - I forgot to say since my sidelights have blown the little buzzer that tells you that you have left your lights on when you turn the ignition off, no longer works either.

I had the same issue when i replaced my sidelights the other week.
Ended up being the tailight fuse (dont ask me why or how!).

I'd re-check all the fuses for all (including tail lights) lights. The tail light fuse is in the fusebox inside the car, and the sidelight fuse is in the fusebox under the bonnet.

Are these your new EFFX halo headlights Merlin? If so, any words of advice on the install?

Ha ha yes they are, a right PITA they were to get in, having to take the bumper "off" and all. Apart from that they are plug and play Wink

They worked fine untill I went to show my mates the next day, it must be a loose wire.

Cheers cheggers, I will check the rear light fuses as well Smile

Ouch, sounds like a pain! I'm picking mine up from the ParcelForce Depot this eve. I did see in the bible that you have to take the bumper off, it looked time consuming perhaps, but not difficult?

Plug in and play sounds good! How have you found them so far then? Is the beam adjustable or just happens to be set up right? I also wonder about the headlight leveling selector on the dash (by the cruise control, sunroof etc.), does that cease to work with these new lights??

Taking the bumper off isnt that hard, just a pain in the ass. have a read of these two links, they show in detail how to get the bumper off:

The only real problem I had was the two bolts on the bottom of the bumper by the wheel arch, they had rusted solid. I decided to take every other bolt out but leave these two rusted ones in. Even though these two were still on, there is enough room to unclip the bumper at the top and slide it forward so there is enough room to get the headlights out.

The lights are adjustable, but only by hand. So yes the electric adjustment will no longer function, you have to tape these wires out of the way when you disconnect the head lights.

My only other word of advice when istalling them is to do the top bolt first, but keep it loose, then the bolt that points to the centre of the car, then the bolt that connects by the wing. That way you should have the most/easiest sucess in ligning up the light before you tighten it up. The bolt that points to the centre of the car is a proper PITA, its hard to get decent access for a spanner but its do-able Wink

Checked over my fuses again, the rear lights fuse had indeed blown, all sorted now. Cheers Cheggers!! Very Happy Cool
