|
|
Evening all,
I've had my Prelude over a month now and love it to bits bar one thing, the radio reception is crap! I think it must be the aerial as I've checked the wiring and replaced the original stereo with a Pioneer one I had fitted to my previous cars (which worked perfectly in them). Here's a pic:
I'm thinking of replacing it with something like this:

I have the same in mine but I know what it is, its the aireal cable, mine has a break in it. I think its poor quality or its been moved that many times over the years it broke. When you move the cable about somtimes I get reception. Job on the to do list. _________________

Thanks for the replies chaps
I'm pretty sure the wiring is ok as I've checked it with a multi-meter and it seems to conduct ok. Where would one get an original one from? Are they electric?

You can buy after market ones from ebay, motor factors ect but the working origionlas are gold dust. You could try Honda, but be prepared to have your wallet raped. _________________

I have the same problem of shite reception. Also I don't like the noisy, greasy, old-school telescopic aerial. I'd prefer a modern looking beesting style aerial.
Thinking about fitting this for £4.99 including 3m coax cable

Get a Bloomice DAB one and throw all the old crap away and get a DAB headset to go with it.
Recently did this on the S2000 and if I could figure a way of doing it on a 5G 'Lude, I'd do the same! _________________ Nick

Taffylude, how does that aerial work, you attach the aerial to the window and then the black box to the inside??
The FM signal in my G5 is terrible and bar drilling a hole in the wing to fit a telescopic aerial, i could really do with something like that.
Can i buy it? |

On a 4G, can you not access the roof skin through the hi-level brake light?
If you don't mind drilling a hole (I do!!) you could put a DAB/FM combo there and somehow run it down behind the trim. I don't like replacing headlinings either...
I've heard very mixed results with those stick-on external twigs - some they're fine, others don't work.
It's a tad frustrating; I ought to be able to have an elegantly-engineered double-din satnav/speedcam DAB unit with a built-in rear-screen aerial on my 5G. But I might as well have asked for worp-speed space travel... _________________ Nick
