The short shifter refers to the throw of the gear stick, not the ratios.

Ups..sorry that looks really stupid what I wrote I just dressed that in wrong words...I meant the feel on the gear stick... Embarassed

You mean the throw already feels short?

Yeah it's not bad, i certainly wouldn't bother upgrading it unless i was looking for maybe a couple of tenths on a track.

Just keep an eye out on US ebay Rob. Like I said, the woman I bought mine from had 2, so I bought both of them knowing how hard to come by they are, and sold the other to Mart.

Yep MadMaxx that what I meant...

If the car is not for a track it is a bit of waste of the money...in my opinion Razz

I take it you have driven a Lude fitted both with & without a short shifter then, to base your opinion on?

Yeah i wouldn't go that far nova, but personally i don't feel it'll be worth it for me unless i want those tenths on the track, or a lazier shift Razz Besides, i'm not sure i want to file away my center console either Sad Taffy, did you have to on yours?

Not the console. On mine i just had to trim the plastic ring that the gaitor is stapled to.
Works ok now tho.

i have had the fm short shifter and never had to cut the consol,

i would never go back to the standard one as the shifting feels so much tighter

will be putting a sort shifter on my 200sx

like njord said i never had to trim anything on mine when fitting the fm shifter and the shorter throw feels really good, one of my favorite mods for sure Cool .

think if you set it up on the shortest setting then you do have to trim the console a little but it didnt take matt very long on his Wink

Just to clarify to everyone... It's not actually the centre console itself that you have to trim... It's the gear-gaitor frame/surround. No cutting will be visible when the centre console is re-installed.
