Ah, nice, im liking the switch faceplate!
Hearing about the 35W/55W melting situation I have sent a message to the people selling the ones im watching on Ebay, ive asked what the wattage rating of the supplied bulbs is. If they are 35W ill keep looking or consider these ones.
Its a shame that the harness is crap on that one otherwise id definately be sending them some money on Monday. Although, he mentions that the harness might already be there? If not, im sure a bit of alteration to the one supplied would be easy enough, ill just have to buy millions of connectors!

Cheers for that mate.

I think he is reffering to the stock orange wire that runs from behind the headlights into the drivers footwell, all ludes have this wire.

Received these at work this morning, 1 week for delivery and no Tax/Duty Smile
However! The lights clearly have a 12V 35W sticker on the back, the company I got them from advised 12V 55W Mad I have queried this with them and will see what they say/do!
Apart from that they look very good, ill get some piccys and put them up later.

Mike

Sweet, you may still get a letter from HM Customs wanting some money. But at least you didnt have Parcel Force holding it ransom untill you pay up.

Some piccies would be cool.

Mmm... I've been looking at these for a while now too and had wondered about getting the set with the HID bulbs kit included but had been concerned if the casings could take the extra heat or not!?

You can upgrade to 55W no problem."

Will try and get them fitted this weekend and let you know how it goes.

Salazar, I think those would be ok, I had read a review somewhere that some of the cheaper sets couldn't handle the heat from a 55W bulb. But if they come with HID's I would think they could take the heat.

The ones I got are these:

Right, pretty much got them fitted after a bit of fiddling. The best installation guide I found online was here -

Good pictures that help when installing the interior harness (although for LHD)

This kid didnt come with any instructions and no bolts!! Still, once id found these instructions it was a lot easier and with the use of a few nuts and bolts I had lying around I got them in very easily.

One problem I did find was the earth, I had to extend the cable on the exterior harness, this was because of the lack of a bolt that should come with the kit so you can ground it to the middle of the car.

I tried to ground it to the main ground where the battey goes and they didnt work, I then re-routed to the earth point next to the air box and they work fine. Could the earth near the battery be the dodgy earth that I have been looking for or is there some reason why the fogs wouldnt earth there?

Ill get some pics up when im home.

They look good, as they should. Any comments on the quality, how do they feel?

Now ive got them on and driving around I love them. I havnt had any fog yet but I guess the visability wont change much between the OEM or similar stlyed fog lights.
I would say the quality of the units are very good, but without anything to compare them to that could mean nothing.
Fitting was easy (once I had good instructions), it comes with all the right connectors to just plug and play. The harnesses were a little longer than necessary, but I suppose this gives a bit of room to tuck wires behind things and get them hidden.
The bulbs are only 35W, but look wise they are the same as the dipped beam on the headlights so do fit in nicely.

How are you finding these now Langy? Still performing and holding up well?

Am I right in thinking there is already some pre-run wiring for the fogs on the Lude? ie. we dont have to worry about wiring from the bumper back through the engine bay and into the cockpit as its already in place from the factory, even though my Lude obv didn't come with fogs? Confused

Hey Salazar, They're awesome mate, Ive had no problems with them whatsoever, and they've had a lot of use Very Happy

Yeah thats right, there is a single wire running from behind the drivers side indicator into the cockpit near the fuse box in the footwell. The kit I got just plugged straight in. The only fun part is trying to find the end in the drivers footwell, took me about 10 minutes of feeling around and scratching my head.
Mine didn't come with fogs either, I presume they use the same loom in all the models and just plug up what's needed in the factory.
The internal harness is a bit long but a few zip ties sorted that. If I had the patience I would shorten it and get it tucked in with the other wiring behind the dash. Cant see it though so its fine for now.

The only things you will need to get are some bolts, either side has 2 mounting holes, I used some M4 size but you might be able to get some M5's through. Its the holes in the fog bracket that are smaller, the hole in the bumper can fit an M6. I also extended the ground wire on the external harness to get up to the earth point next to the air box on the inner wing. There is an earth point in front of the rad -

But I didnt have a gold bolt to secure in place. You can run an extended wire through a hole behind the drivers side headlight to the side of the air box.

The link I posted previously to the instructions was really helpful, before I found that I was just looking at the connectors wondering where I needed to plug into the fuse board.

I haven't uprated the bulbs to 55W as they look good with the 35W that come with it. So im not sure if they can stand the extra heat, but the picture of the "original box" the seller sent to me had a 55W rating on it.

Hope that helps a bit mate. If you get a set and run into any problems give me a PM and ill try to help.

Mike
