If I ever have to replace my lude, then I would probably consider going down this route.

these are the costs that stack up was looking at the white lude alot a few months ago on this website but cant bring myself to do it YET.

Example - Vehicle Over 10 years old
Purchase Price in Japan 100,000 Yen FOB

£ 500 Purchase of the car FOB in Japan
£ 700 Shipping Cost
£ 120 Import Duty 10% of above two (FOB Purchase Price plus Shipping Cost)
£ 231 VAT 17.5% of above three (FOB Purchase Price plus Shipping Cost plus Import Duty)
£ 200 Shipping Agent Fee
£ 50 Customs
£ 38 Car Registration Fee
£ 200 MOT Preparation
£ 30 UK Number Plates
£ 40 MOT Test
======
£2,109 Grand Total
======

A cost that is likely to vary according to the size of the Japanese car you purchase is the shipping cost. This is because it is worked out by the cubic metre and different sized cars from Japan will attract different shipping costs. You will often see this cost quoted as an m3 figure, which is another way of saying Metre Cubed. Typical charges for Shipping costs from Japan to ports in the UK are in the £38 - £45 per cubic metre range and are often quoted in US Dollars.

Remember there are other costs that have not been reflected here though they are likely to be minor. Fax costs, Telephone Calls to Japan (minor! Ha!), Credit Card charges, Taxi or other travel fares to the home port of destination when the car arrives in the UK, etc., ..........

another note is the bb4 has 2ws were the bb1 has 4ws this is the only difference if your that desperate to be lighter which i dont think is a massive amount maybe buy a good bb1 for way less than the cost of importing a bb4 and have 2ws sub frame put on the bb1 loads of people break preludes now just wait for the part.then you can sell the 4ws unit which people want time to time

yeah if you google jap car importer for your area theres usually someone but obviously you pay them to do the work if they are up for it so u may get charged a bit more, theres loads in southampton just take your pick and call them to see what they say.if you look on the tradecar website and click on the car you like it has an option on the right side of the screen saying my local importers just click the select importer link

For the lude you want, in good clean, rust-free and relatively low mileage condition, up to £3k is IMO a reasonable price to pay.
