I have lenso rs5's on the lude and they have a polished lip on them. They have started to get a bit chip on the polished parts, is there anyway to remove these small chips? Would wet sanding help? They're beyond metal polish Sad

Process was....

rub down with 800grit sandpaper
several times, depending on how bad.

rub down with 1000grit sandpaper
Same as before, start wearing away at the bigger scratches the 800 grit might have made.

rub down with 1200 sandpaper
As many times as you want to, try and get a nice smooth finish, although it wont actually "shine" much yet.

Then.........Auto Glym metal polish (awesome stuff by the way)
Rub in with some good clothes, i used 2 different cloths, both for washing a car technically (polishing cloth - those lint free thingys or whatever.)
Polish polish polish. When you think it looks shiny, polish more more.

You will be shocked at how much black crap comes off when cleaning it, even when it looks spotless, there will be loads of deep dirt in there.

Anyway, thats what i did. If yours isn't so bad, id start off with a fine paper, say 1200 then 1500grit or something. Remember though, once you've rubbed it down, the alloy will no longer be protected by laquer, so you will need to keep them topped up with polish every few weeks and keep them clean. Especially through winter!

mine aren't dulled like yours were, they just have large chips on them (but not very deep) i may give it a try tho. Cheers matey Very Happy

I will keep a look out for your finished results as mine could do with a bit of spit and polish. Pics perhaps as you do em?

Once polished put some wax on the lip to repell water and corrosion.
You can even get rim wax which may be a bit more dureable than bodywork waxes. Smile

Cheers mate, their white with the chrome lip. Everyone said not to get them, but as soon as i got them everyone loves them. They look mint on my blue lude Cool

I'll do pics when i do this, not sure if its worth doing til next year after winter? I'm thinking it may be best once the winter, rain, salt, crap on the roads is over and done with Confused

My polished lips are fooked as well, after sorting them im going to have to try this rim wax. You got to try everything once I suppose Laughing

I'd recommend Finish Kare's 1000P for the "rim wax" it seems to be more hard wearing that the actual rim wax.
