Right here goes.

Some tit decided to put a brick thro my windscreen so i need a new 1.

However after phoning around for prices, all the companies keep telling me i may need the plastic frame/surround part that is bonded in with the windscreen. They say that because its bonded in with the windscreen, its difficult to get it out without damaging it and if it dosnt come out in 1 piece,i will need a new 1.However they want an extra £100 on top of the £160 for the windscreen.Said it can only be bought from Honda.

I rang up Honda and they said i could get 1 for £72(and i have a mate who works theyre who is gonna try get me it cheaper with his discount).

Its alot of money just for a seal and at this time its something i could do without having to buy.

Now is there an easy way to get it out??Ive seen theres a special tool available for removing it so im hoping the window fitter has 1 to make it easier without fuking it.

Or does any1 know where i can get a surround cheaper??

Cheers,Nik

At the very least, you'll need new clips to hold it in again as they're expected to break when removed.

If the trim doesn't break, you could get away with re-using it, but a new one will look very nice Smile

This is a usual insurance company rape; they won't pay for a crucial piece to instal the glass properly.

Best get a new seal anyway and if you're lucky, return for credit.

my advice would be to get a new seal, i had my screen replaced a few months ago and the guys who did it said that they thought they could prob save it so i let them reuse it, was fine for a week then it leaked when i went to the car wash so i got them back out to reseal it

it was fine till a very heavy rainstorm then leaked again, in the end i got one of the sealant guns we use for pressurized ductwork (high psi jobs) and went all along the top and abit down the sides with it, still no joy even tho it *should* be airtight

ive given up and am just going to have the seal replaced when i can afford it

Yeah i bit the bullet and ordered up a new seal.My mate who works at Honda is getting me 1 for £65.Better than the £100 the windscreen fitter wants.
