Tinting Lexarse Lights

(by Nucleustylz lude)

I was intending to detango my originals but after looking on cardomain I found a guy who had modified the lexus lights. So I thought I'd see what it looks like:

First stage, with a bit of a give away can of tint spray! Wink

Masked up and sprayed

And finally the finished product, what an improvement! Very Happy

On the car:

Sidelight Removal

(thanks to Taffy Lude, moved from Chassis how to thread Smile )

4th Gen Prelude - UKDM Sidelight

1. Open the bonnet, and look for the small hole above the headlight.

2. This is the hole your after. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the sidelight securing screw from inside the hole (be careful not to drop it).

3. Wiggle the sidelight unit about to try and free it from it's mounting. You may need to use a flatbladed screwdriver to GENTLY prise it free.

4. Once the unit is loose, pull it FORWARDS towards the front of the car.

5. There are two plastic pins at the rear of the light unit which help locate it in place. Once these are clear of their holes, pull the unit SIDEWAYS away from the car. You may need to jiggle the plastic arm that the securing screw went into.

6. You should now be able to take the sidelight out of the vehicle.

7. Simply twist the bulb holder anti-clockwise to remove it from the sidelight. The bulb is a 501 type wedge bulb which just pulls out.

8. Re-installation is simply the reverse of the above.

Total time is about 4 minutes each side.

4th Gen Prelude - JDM Sidelight

The JDM headlights are one-piece, and have the sidelights incorporated into them. The bulbholders usually have a plastic stalk fixed to them, which enables them to be removed easily from the engine bay side without having to remove anything else.
