I bought my first lude back in summer last year ( 08 ), it cost me £400 which i thought was a bargain. Its a JDM Si 4th gen in Milano (Red)Pink, it has the usual rusty rear arches and looked like it had been in an accident of some kind to the front. The front bumper mounts had come through the front bumper a little and there was a big area where paint had been scratched off. Here's a couple of pics of the car when i bought it:

I had big plans for the car (as im sure we all do), but unfortunately in October i was in an accident with a van and the Lude took all the damage Sad Here's some piccies:

I was absolutely gutted but i thought i would have a go at fixing it my self, i have never attempted anything like replacing a wing before but thought what the hell. The car was pretty much valueless now so what was the worst i could do? over the last few months i have stripped off all the damaged parts and replaced the wing and headlight. instead of replacing the front bumper with one from a bodykit (which was my original plan before the accident) or a replacement standard one i thought i would have a go at modifying the damaged one, and this is the stage i am up to at the moment! Smile Here are a few pics of the the car while i was removing and replacing the wing and headlight:
Headlight removed

Front Bumper removed

Wing removed & my grandad inspecting my handy work lol

And finaly the front bumper ready to start being fibreglassed and meshed

Bit of a long post and sorry if the pictures are a bit big! I will hopefully be updating this as and when work is done, hope to be doing the bumper soon and i will allso take some pictures of the car as it is now with the new wing on.

Regards, Ben.

I hope you get somewhere with this, it would be nice to see a car come back to life again.

Just a quick question, are the indicators that are built into the bumper required for MOT? because i plan on fibreglassing over the area that they are mounted in, infact i have already chopped out all the plastic they are mounted on as you can see in the pic lol If some are required i guess il find some others i can mount on the mesh or somewhere.

I think the question you should be asking is, do you require indicators on the front of the car?

In which case, yes, it's a legal requirement.

Ahh yes, for some reason i thought there was indicators built into the headlights aswell.. its been far too long since i actualy got to drive this thing lol. Well my next problem is finding some nice sexy indicators that i can clip onto the meshing i will be putting on the bumper.

Could this be the answer for my problem? would this be road legal & pass MOT?

Bit of a update, first a pic with the new wing on, complete with Go Faster stripe!

I also whent to the local motor factors today and picked up some fibreglass mix, meshing, body filler and various sand paper grades and started work on the front bumper. Didnt make much progress today but heres a few pics of what i got done:
All lumps, bumps, chips etc sanded down and the area that will be fibreglassed roughed up

And here we have the first bit of meshing in place

The other side of the bumper has the same amount of meshing on just didnt get a pic, hopefully will finnish all of the meshing tomorrow and start fibreglassing and smoothing of the dents and holes.

Made some more progress on the bumper today, not a lot but im getting there lol.
One of the holes in the bumper with its first layer of fibreglass

A dent filled with fibreglass

meshing finnished on passenger side

Meshing nearly done on drivers side

and finally the first layer of fibreglass on the passanger side

Depending on weather i will hopefully sand down the fibreglass that has been done so far and then apply a second layer tomorrow!
