A little update on my Lude.
I have been meaning to get my tailgate and spoiler resprayed for some time.

The tailgate has had a little bit of rust growing ever so slowly over the last while just unger the rear numberplate surround.

And the spoiler had somehow developed some sort of disease!
If you look closely you may be able to make out little bubbles/blisters. Confused

That has occured above both of the legs that mount the spoiler to the boot!
Weird! Surprised

Anyway I picked up a spare tailgate from AlanDITD absolutely ages ago(18 months) and had it stripped right down.

It was pretty clean apart from a bit of surface rust around the number plate screws.

I tidied this up with a wire brush tool on my dremel and treated it with some rust treatment.
I then set about sanding back the serbring silver paint with some 400 - 600 -800 wet and dry paper.

I recently picked up a JDM spoiler in cassis red in good condition and sanded it down too:

So with the prep done off they went to my friend who has painted a few parts with me in the past. No pics of the different stages here im afraid.
But I got them back looking much better!

The inside was done in satin black.

While it was apart I cleaned up the plastics of the brake light and number plate lights with some G6(cut through the 15 years of dirt) and some Mothers plastic polish.

Brake light fitted:

I re-assembled the tailgate in my livingroom and set about dismantling my tailgate after work one night.

Shocked
Then slotted the new one on.

The paint on the old number plate surround was still in good condition so we didnt paint it and still matches pretty much bang on with the newly painted tailgate. Smile
Next up was to fit the spoiler and wire up the brake light.

And the finished product with my numberplate and Granada black badges back on.

So much better than before, I cant believe it took me so long to get round to sorting them out as the rust especially was really bugging me.

There should me more updates soon as I get ready for a big show in 3 weeks time! Shocked
Got my Euro skirts off getting resprayed and might re-do the front bumper at the same time as it has a few marks on it already.
Going to repaint my rocker cover and tidy up the engine bay, fit new front and rear strut bars and get the Rota C10's back on after they have been refurbed. Cool

Watch this space....

Looking good as always Dave. Cool

Funny thing, the reason I got my rear spoiler recently resprayed was due to the same bubbly effect yours had, in exactly the same area Shocked

My bodyshop guy said it's like a plastic type corrsion that happens, he had to strip the hole thing down, sand it all off and apply a special plastic primer before painting.

Never come accross that sort of thing before Confused

That is strange Alex Confused
I wonder if the plastic starts to break down after so many years.

Here's some more updates.
Recent oil change with Castrol GTX magnatec 10/40 SS, Honda Oil filter(£!), sump plug washer.

I have had my Forbidden motorsports cooling plate for ages but only just fitted it yesterday.

It hides the nasty void between front bumper and slam panel but doesnt cover enough of the space around the edges for my liking and I dont like the way the brackets sit over the top of it. :S

I picked up a pair of front and rear Cusco strut braces a while ago.
They werent in the best condition so I sanded up and polished the bars and got the feet powdercoated.
Fitted with new nuts and bolts.

It was a shame to remove my rare Feels front strut bar but these ones freshen things up and should stiffen up the back too. Smile

Also got my Rota C10's back from having the lips repolished. Cool
Pics soon.
