*tut* [/pats 10.5 yr old licence that's never had a point on it]

If you're going to speed you have to pick your moment.

30zones are insane. You WILL get caught. Or you'll make a mistake and probably kill somebody. Hopefully they'll throw the book at you, strip you of your licence, make you do it all again and give you the opportunity to go on a speeding course and perhaps also some advanced defensive driving.

Harsh punishment you may think but hopefully at the end of it all you'll have grown up a bit and be better educated to the point that you're worthy of sharing the roads WE pay tax to fund and use, because at the moment, you're not. Do that speed past my house on our 30mph residential street once and the second time you do it you'll find a brick coming through your windsdcreen.
I've got some horrible neighbours Smile Wink

^Agree totally^

Speeding can be done perfectly safely, but not in 30 limits. I've had two accidents this year where completely unpredictable things happened, both in 30 limits. Neither were my fault. However if i'd been speeding at the time 1) they would have been a lot worse, 2) it could quite easily been pinned on me for going to fast.

I've got a friend with a 1.6 pig 306 who boasted to me the other day he managed bournemouth to dorchester (about 25 miles on residential, dual carriageway and country roads) in 16 minutes. For one that's absolute bullcrap, i couldn't do that in my car and don't need to try. But he also said he was averaging 80-90 mph, quite why he was boasting about it i don't know as it's moronic on the roads he would have been on, there's a long tree lined section that usually has a dead deer somewhere along it's length. Also his girlfriend and one of our other friends were in the car. One thing he always said was that when he passed his test he wouldn't drive like me, and he doesn't he drives like a bloody moron.

Sorry, that rant wasn't aimed at you as apart from the speeding it's pretty much unrelated. But a license is a privelidge, and once you get it back think a little more carefully when and where you do exceed the limit.

At least it was late at night, less likely for a little child to run out from between cars, again i don't know the road he was on, but 68mph is still too fast for a 30 regardless of the time, someone could pull out of a side road without looking, and as deviant said if you're speeding and you have an accident, the insurance company and police are likely to make it out to be your fault.

As for you friend deviant, he could just be lying, well hopefully... If I speed on a country road, or a dual carriageway, it tends to be when other people aren't in my car. I don't particularly enjoy putting others life/health in danger. 30 limits are definately not a place i'll speed, the number of people who pull out in front of you from side streets in 30's is bad enough at 30mph, you can usually avoid a collision, any quicker, you're likely to have an accident (that said its mostly taxi's that pull out on me)

Paul
