Just been looking at some new cars on the net. And im seeing a similarity on them. Back in the day it was either like one or Dual or Dual tips but now the new Ferrari 458 and Lexus LFA both have three tiped exhaust!!

Loooks EPIC!!!!!! hate-eyeheart hate-cool hate-inlove hate-drool

I wonder if anyone would try to put three tips on Prelude... Rolling Eyes

The middle pipe on the 458 isn't an exhaust pipe - it's a screamer pipe for the turbo, same as the F40 used to have.

(I think).

Actually that's rubbish - the 458 is naturally aspirated, don't know what I was thinking Laughing

I've heard it said that the middle pipe on the 458 is a screamer pipe - and in the F40 it certainly was as that had a twinturbo V8, but I don't know enough about turbos or screamer pipes to know whether the 458 actually does have one.

All I do know is the middle pipe WILL have a function, as Ferrari rarely fit anything without a reason.

Ok done some google research and it looks like it's a noise regulation thing. It's quieter at low revs and only uses one or two pipes, then at higher revs valves open in the exhausts and it works fully and makes a hell of a noise.
