following my clutch change a couple months back ive had a leak from somewhere. i now know where. i basically topped up the gearbox oil last weekend and ended up putting almost a litre in which is outrageous.

its leaking from where the gearbox casing splits from the enfine i think? does this soundright? so is it a seal and its gearbox out time? or what?

Hmm, doesn't sound good, it's certainly a seal though, wipe it up and check to see if it's coming down from the drive shaft area, this is more likely as the shaft might not be located correctly or the seal could of been damaged.

You just reminded me i needed to check mine though as i had oil coming from there when i was at PAW, i cleaned it then but need to check it again to see if it's a leak or just over spill from somewhere.

Right I've gone through all seals in the gearbox to locate my leak. Maybe I can help... I started like everyone from replacing diff seals....what a shame when after 2 days I saw oil dripping again....than i looked on this bit...

Check the shift arm cover, the are two seals:

- dust seal for clutch arm

- seal for the shift shaft

-and liquid seal for the cover

Drawings to help identify...

First thing open the bonnet put your finger under the shift shaft boot (this one on the drawing) and check if you have any oil, should be dry over there. Inspec the whole area close to the cover mine was covered in oil.

If everything is dry than might be main seal on the clutch side - when you were replacing the clutch did you replaced main seal on the gearbox?

Hope that will help...Plus thio job can be done by yourself... Idea
