Okay, so I've bought a gearbox and ECU to fix my van, and then I'm going to sort out the body work myself (yep, you read that right, can't be arsed with paying out more money on the fekking thing) but don't know what colour to do it.

This is the car (pre bumps, dents, dings, scratches, breaks, and keyings)

Sooo, which colour should I do it? I'm going to smooth it too (or attempt to Laughing ) I will leave the roof and interior the current colour because well, spraying all that will be effort and more money on paint Laughing Laughing

- Satin black
- Matt black
- Primer grey
- Satin red

What other colours hide bumps well?

Are you sure you want to do this C?

You will lose all money on the car - the desire for modified Renault Kangoos is very slim, let alone one with a "marmite" style paintjob.

When i say marmite, i mean exactly that. some will love, some will hate. I should know, my first lude was mattblack.

If you plan to keep if for a long time, go for it, but if you are still moving to canada in a year or less, you really will be shooting yourself in the foot.

I know the cars been beaten to crap and has alot of bodywork issues, but your going to lose soo much money if you choose any of the above colour schemes.

Anyway, your a crazy mother f***r, so i vote Matt Grey (primer grey) Laughing

I've voted for satin black.
It will go well with your wheels and the window tints. Cool

Ive found Satin to be far harder to spray (and to achieve a good, even finish) than matt black. Matt black is a piece of piss.

I should think matt grey would be similar too.

TBH crazy, id speak to some local bodyshops and speak to them about purely spraying. For example, a friend of mine works for a body shop...

Average spray job - £1500-2000.
If i prep the entire car and primer it, ready for them to hit it with colour and laquer - £300

Now this might be a mates rate kind of thing, but im pretty sure its not. I think most garages are happy to hit it with colour in a hour or so and make a quick buck from a quick job. You just have to be damm good at prepping.

I agree re the re-sell, it'll fetch more as it is than if you attempt a spray job yourself.

Erm, guys, you do realise that I have a load of swear words and swastikas keyed into it at the moment so hart that each line has creased the metal of the panel Shocked

The panels that need repairing or replacing are: the hood, all 4 doors, front bumper and the n/s front wing.

I've already accepted that I'll be lucky to get 1/3rd what I paid for the car back, but hey, it's gotten to that point, so may as well have some fun with it now eh? Laughing Laughing

Is satin harder to do then than matt black? Cos I thought that satin would have been fairly easy to spray, and did the rear bumper of the lude satin without any trouble, or is it harder when trying to do everything to blend?

Would love them, can you imagine what I could do with one of them? Mmmmmm, first APC with 15" subs, strobe lights and smoke machine?? Laughing Laughing Laughing
