The windscreen washer pump on my wife's S2000 died last week so I got on the job. Not easy as the front wheel has to come off, followed by the inner wheel arch panel to get to the pump. Sure thing the pump was knackered so I had a quick look on E-bay and they were going for 15 - 20 dollars in the states.
I rang the local Honda Stealer (whom I have to say have been brilliant when I need parts for the 'lude) and braced myself for something in the region of £20 for a bit of plastic with a motor.
After the usual exchanges of 'ows it going then' and 'alright butty' the price tag came back at £77. Before I could get up off the floor, VAT was added taking the cost of this pump up to over £88. I then got on to 24/7 parts and second hand units were anything between £46 and £69 so I did what I should have done in the first place. I took the pump to Dave Edwards Autospares in Cardiff and they matched it exactly with one that fits a Subaru. They opened up a few boxes and took a bit of time over it and then gave me a bill for £9. The pump fitted perfectly, all connections were the same and it worked first time. Is it me?

Honda and most main dealers are a rip off! I rang honda for a price on a new 'H' boot badge, i was expecting around £3, i got a price of £24!!!! Its a piece of plastic! Not gold!! Ebay shops sell them for £5 for a pair. Luckily a mate had a spare one

Good to know there's still folks around who'll go the extra mile to make a difference. I've found his number and bookmarked it for future use. Thanks for the tip!

Some dealers make their own massive mark up on parts.

The badge for example, is only about £8 to £10, so they're making quite the profit there Sad

I agree. I have found my local dealer has about 25% on top of honda recommended retail prices, which already makes them a profit. Its a rip off. I complained to Honda UK, asking if it was normal practice for dealerships to charge what they like. They replied, we expect dealerships to charge the honda retail price so that across the country the parts are about all the same from any dealership. They started to investigate for me, with the price I paid from Lings.com and the quote my dealer gave me. Haven't heard anything back yet.

absolutely brilliant. They are a huge Honda dealer, from lawn mowers to cars. They deliver for free overnight if its >£50 and they nearly always have the parts in stock. I got a part next day coz it was in stock, and 2 days earlier than my local dealer could manage, and 26% cheaper.

Give them a go, and see. 0800 phone number too I think.

Regards

Going to the honda dealer for parts can be hit or miss. I just want to replace the lense on my fog lights, got cracked. But all I can buy is the complete unit, so £150 plus Shocked . Another time however, I couldn't buy any replacement windscreen wipers so went to Honda dealer (Steels) and prepared myself for the worse. They are on the Honda Happiness scheme so £18 (including the vat) for the front pair (its a saloon so no rear wiper). Pretty good I thought (for Honda Rolling Eyes ). Bought wipers for the Mrs mini from Halfords £22.
