hey everyone...
doesnt it suck when your having a really good day... and then you make one small oversight and your life flashes before your eyes??

anyhow... i crashed my 4th gen into the back of a bmw this evening.... it was reletively slow on impact, like 5-10 mph.... so not too much has been done internally i dont think... (fingers crossed) but im going to require a new bonnet, front bumper and nostril... and passenger side main light and side light....

does any one have any of these items that i could buy on the cheap???

the larger items are more important...

its that or i'll have to give up the prelude i think.... which would suck!

get back to me soon if you can, thanks

Sky

oh and if anything is in metasphite (however thats spelt) green that would be a big bonus! (fingers crossed... again)

thanks widowmaker

just to update everyone who's interested...

i've looked at it closer and in the daylight before work this morning, the main bracket/support which the radiator and lights and from what i can gather, the whole front end is mounted from is bent back by approx 50mm, so i'm firstly going to try and pull that out, if all else fails... i'll need a new one, (any methods??? i was thinking bit of rope and a tree combined with reverse gear...)
coming forward the nostril bracket is totally mashed, will need one of those with nostrils attatched, the brackets holding the front bumper are quite obviously mangled, so when i get a bumper i'll need those attatched.. (is that common practice? or should i ask specifically for all that attached)
the bonnet is squiffy and bent up at the front, i think it will be cheaper just to get a new one?? also, what could this have damaged further back which i should check out? like hinges or support wise, it seems to open freely!
the light is connected to this main bracket so i cant really put a new one in until this is fixed,
the wing i would imagine is bent inwards a little, but as i cant compare it to bonnet or bumper then i cant really call it..

that, so far, i believe is the extent of the damage...

so in short the list goes as follows
for definite,
-New bumper
-New bonnet
-New passenger side light
-New nostrils and mounting bracket
possible,
-New main support/bracket

if anyone can sell me any of this on the cheap (preferably metasphite green but not essential) it would be much appriciated

cheers

Sky

Sorry to hear this has happened Sky. Crying or Very sad
I'm glad your not going to take the easy option and scrap it.

Try using a jack with some wood at either end to prevent further damage.
At least this way you will have more control.

Your colour btw is called Malachite Green. Wink

Good luck with the fix. Wink

Where are you mate? I have a front bumper (although it's silver) which is complete with support bar, nostrils etc and if you want it it's yours, free of charge. It's got a few marks on it, but if you'll be spraying it that won't matter. But it's straight and complete, you can bolt it straight on, just need to pop in your indicator lenses.
I'm just north of London.

Hi gripper

Thanks very much! its sounds to be just what i need!
i'll PM you to get your address or a meeting point or something?

We're a good old bunch on here!

I'm currently living in welwyn garden city, middle of hertfordshire i guess, so not too far away!

I've just pulled some of my bend out on the cross-beam so i can actually close my bonnet! woohoo!

But i think i'm going to have to take the bumper off before i can get anywhere near taking the light out (do you have to do this anyway on 4th gens??), it looks to be pretty firmly wedged in there!

Theres a light at a scrappers near by but he wants £45 for it!!!!
Im sure there must be cheaper ones new???
(maybe not but i still think its expensive!)

Other than that.. thats as far as things have gone, i aim to get quite a bit done this weekend

oooh, i also have some photos!

They're all currently uploading on photobucket... i dont know how long it will take

Cheers

Sky

hey right i've just uploaded these pictures, took an age!!!!

this is the first, after i'd just patched up so its safe to drive

these show the most visible internal damage, notice how the cross-beam is effectively straight in comparison to the good side

oh and heres one of an upright section pushing right into my radiator it had moved back by about 50-60mm!! i was so lucky!!!

sadness definitely!
heres my attempt at pulling it out, it amused me

[url]

i will take some pictures of what it looks like now, my phone died half way through my shinanigans, bloody blackberry!

any tips on getting that light out??

Cheers

It looks quite bad but repairable.

I'm pretty sure the front bumper has to come off. Crying or Very sad
It would make it easier to see the extent of the damage too.

Damn i was lucking with mine then Shocked

The bumper has to come off to remove the headlamp, i did it last weekend and was quite an easy job - although i think you can remove the bumper bar attached, i am sure someone will pop up with some info Laughing

Good luck getting it back on the road, there have been too many lately scrapped with much less damage than this - mine was heading for the crusher before i saved it Angel

hey all,

i just bought myself a new light, temporarily from a scrapper... but guess what was stuck in the rear quarter windows!

so who owned this prelude, its a 2.0i numberplate L472 WGK

definitely someone on here!!!

well whoever you are, i now own your passenger side light assembly!
it was one of those black pimpy ones... so my prelude is going to look like it has a black eye for a while...
but it will be a light!!

which is better than none!

Cheers
