ok i have a bb4 and think my calipers need refurbing. the rears certainly do. as the pistons are all corrosded and pitted. now is it worth getting the new seal kits or buy some refurbed calipers? do the fronts come apart the same as the rears bar teh handbrake? how do i no if the handbrke mech is causing the brakes to be on constantly?

If the pistons are pitted then god knows what the bore hole looks like. i'd settle with refurbed one's .

resseting your handbrake is really easy and worth doing. that'll tell you if the hand/b is binding .

its all in the manual . its really worth reading before you tackle the jobs. thats all i did and i've got a perfect handbrake. Very Happy

The cost of new pistons, which you'll need if they're pitted, along with the new seal kits, will add up to a refurb caliper, just buy those instead.

Plus, with a refurbed caliper, you should get some sort of warranty. Usually about a year.

Bearing in mind as well that if you buy from the states you might get stung for import tax.

unloaded calipers = caliper only
semi-loaded caliper = caliper and mounting bracket
Loaded calipers = caliper, mounting bracket, & new brake pads
