Well I don't know about a knocking noise under braking being a seized caliper, but someone else can shed some light on that.
I have had to refurb the pistons on both my rear calipers. Jack up the rear wheels and with the handbrake off, check if after a couple of hand spins they spin freely. If not, check the handbrake adjustment to make sure its not binding and if that's not the problem then the caliper is sticking.
You may well need a new piston and seal kit from Honda, costs around £80 all in but well worth it. But the second caliper I refurbed, I just cleaned the rust off the piston and put it back in! Oh and you'll need some brake fluid to top up afterwards.
The main cause of this issue is not changing the brake fluid on schedule. Brake fluid is hydroscopic, so it absorbs water. If not changed, then over time the water content in the fluid becomes so high that internal parts of the breaking system begin to rust.

I've recently changed one of my rear calipers, didn't cost a lot for a new one from my local motor factors, it was around £110 plus I got £30 back when I returned the old caliper. Food for thought if you can't be arsed re-furbing yourself.

That doesn't sound a bad deal at all Chegger's but when you say a new one, you mean a newly refurbed one yeah? Not acually brand new Honda part for £110.

Mmm....that does seem the more sensible, hassle free option for like a tenner more (once you've returned you old caliper).
Are they the proper Nizmo (or whatever make they are!?) Honda OEM calipers? Where you able to request them sprayed up in a colour of your choice? And do you know how and what is refurbed bud? Do they replace the rusted pistons and all the rubber seals etc?? Or just clean it all up

I couldn't tell you the manufacturer they were, I assumed they were just a re-furbed OEM caliper.
I got mine from Kevin Cooper, new seals, pistons and they'd been stripped back and sprayed silver. Not sure if there are other colours available though.
