Get it out in the open mate! No such thing as a stupid question. As Nitin says, it might help someone else as well.

Having seen some of your recent posts and errm purchases, I think what you're wanting to ask is covered elsewhere.... And it's not a stupid question, either. Smile

Best wishes, Colin

Thanks for your reassurance chaps

Deep breath here goes Embarassed

My prelude has the 6 speaker set up, the full range ones in the rear, the door speakers and the tweeters in the dash. I have just purchased a ‘sex blocker’ my plan is to install a single 6x9 sub where the original sub was. My limited knowledge of ICE setups tells me the front is where I should concentrate on rather than the rear.

My questions are:

Shall I leave the rear speakers unconnected and just upgrade the fronts? If so can anyone recommend some component speakers or should i just install full range

Do i upgrade the rears as well as the front ?

I have a sony Xplod 3-4 channel amp and thought I could run it 3 channel, powering the sub and the front components.

I am not looking for award winning SPL quality just something i can listen to my old Nightcrawlers CD Very Happy

Oh and am on a relatively small budget

Yes concerntrate on the front speakers. Get some 6.5" components and make an MDF baffle for the midbass to to connect to. Never attach straight to the metal.
Run these front components off the 2 channels on the amp and then you can get a 6x9 sub and use that on the rainaining channel.
But 6x9 subs are hard to get. Genesis Do a Profile P69 sub that comes in 4 ohms or 8ohms. They only come as a pair. You can wire the 8ohms ones is parrallel of one channel on the amp to make they a 4 ohms 2 speaker sibwoofer or get the 4ohms version and use 2 separate channels. But you only have space for one sub. Unless you get 2 6.5" subs for the rear shelf, or get anothe 6x9 centre piece and ut it under the existing one.

Another small question for now, if i did install a 6x9 centre sub would i disconnect the rear speakers ? Also can you recommend some front components that i can audition

Widowmaker, if you had to buy a pair of 6x9 subs and only needed one, I would possibly buy the other one from you.
I will know, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Wink

Sounds like a plan, i have been looking at reviews of the Genisis Profile P69 6x9 and they seem a decent speaker at £170 odd per pair. I am planning an install for next month sometime so keep me posted of your plans i am sure we could come to some arrangement Wink

Yes, i think they may be out of my price-rage too adding up what i would need for front components, amp, leads etc Sad

Have a search and see what you can find in your price range and maybe we can strike a deal.
