Does any one know the difference between the two? What is the hieght difference ? ie how much lower do the Motegi skirts hang in comparison with the OEM?

Nitin / Salazar?

You have the OEM on your car now. The motegi sides are the same depth but are more hard angled shaped and look lower whilst stock curves in. The rears are the same except the Motegi lip has more of an angle again making it visually look lower.

Both are the same size and depth though. Got them in my garage side my side.

Sweet, thanks Ratty. I had it in my head that they were a bit lower to the ground.

I was checking as my Mugen sides may not arrive for several months and im now wondering about Motegi sides. But if they arent any deeper than stock I may not bother.

they are bigger all round mate. the mounting points are different for a start.

they do have the same intrinsic measurements but fill the space a hell of a lot better. they are kinda half way between the mugen and stock. muden basically just 'raunched' up the Motegi skirts, making the downward angles a little more agressive and the ends a little bit deeper.

Good answer. Thats what i was getting at. Same dimensions but make bigger use of the space thus look meatier, larger and more likely to be deposited on.

My predicament is that in August I ordered Duraflex Mugen replica skirts from MadMotors. MadMotors said at the time they wernt in stock and I could wait 10-12 weeks for delivery. I said fair enough, i'll wait.

MadMotors now say they wont be in stock for another potential 10-12 weeks, so I contacted Extreme Dimensions themselves in the states but they want $430 for delivery alone (plus the $175 for the items thenselves).

What do I do?

Go with the OEM skirts, but will that look good?

Go with the OEM skirts and wait at least another 3 months in the hope of the Mugen replicas?

Go with Motegi skirts?

Go with cheap Motegi replicas for the next while and wait for the Mugens?

Any ideas?

With Mugen bumper and Mugen rear things the OEM skirts won't look good in my opinion..As the OEM will look to small against the mugen bumper..

I would try and find Motegi skirts for now and put them on..

The only difference between the Motegi skirts and Mugen skirts is that the motegi skirts have a slighlty angle (Cut) in the middle. The Mugen one is straight..

IF i were you i would get the Motegi skirts for now as Mugen skirts are hard to find...

I have a picture of a 5th gen with mugen bumper, mugen rear things and also motegi skirts and that looks sweet so i will dig that pic up.. Wink

the cheap ebay copies are just that.

but.....

when painted and mounted (this may give you some headaches) they are fine.

i ended up drilling thru the skirt+ bits of 2''x1''+ the chassis. bit hardline but id had enough.

you may find a less invasive way but i know the buggers wont be moving anytime soon Twisted Evil

I do expect that, if its short term its not a problem. Its just they are so cheap Laughing

I wouldnt be fitting them personally.

The mugen rear dont look small against the stock sides. If fact it flows alot better as the side are the same level as the mugen rears.
I didnt put them on however because i preferred the Motegi kit and IMO the whole Mugen kit is needed for the full effect. But for now Mugen rears will work well with the stock sides.

I agree with Ratty that the mugen rear follow better with OEM sides.. But then if u have mugen bumper then it will hang too low and upset the balance of the car if you get what i mean.. Its best to get Motegi sides or Mugen sides.. Wink

Oh well my "problem" looks like it may be solved. I have found an American company who are far cheaper than Extreme Dimensions themselves (for an Extreme Dimensions product Confused) and will ship it for less, and deliver in a week.

Basically I can pay an extra £65 and get the sides in the next week , or wait 3+ months for MadMotors to sort it out Think.

dont let rob hear you saying that Anxious

mind you, this is a 5th gen thread so those mealy 4th genners will never know

MUAHahahahahaha!!!!!

Laughing

what has lude-dude got on his? mugen front but im not sure about the rest.

i think if you have the mugen front and back you should consider the ebay motegi's as they will fit and look good for the money. save the rest of the enormous amount of cash you would spend on importing summat and spend it on higher level maintanance. give the car a full health check and spend that 300-400 saved on what you find. dont forget import tax etc...

just my idea. im a bit anal about ''regular maintanance extends life''.

Ha Ha Rob's is all real Cool

Lude Dude has IBK Revolution side skirts and motegi rear lip I think.

I hear what your saying, TBH im only paying slightly over the op of what I would get from the UK, as I say an extra 65 quid so its no biggie since I stumbled across another supplier.
