I fitted my Motegi kit last weekend. All went without a hitch Wink

The only query I have is about the rear skirt. The original shorter skirt I removed had two points on the lower part of which met up with two brackets coming off the car (you can see one in the pic below). Bumper clips held these parts together.

The new Motegi skirt I fitted doesn't seem meet up with these brackets. Does the bottom of the skirt remain free floating? Could someone with a Motegi rear lip possibly have a look under their rear bumper for me to check? Thanks Very Happy

The bumper seems to sit more than an inch further back than the exhaust finishers. I thought it would be level with them? Perhaps I just need to loosen them off and slide them down the exhaust a bit but I seem to remember they have to fit snug on the end of the tip.

There meant to be a adapter(plastic) bit that comes off the original rear lip and goes to the motegi one if i remember correctly...

I'll have a proper look tommorow to confirm.. Idea

And also the car that came with motegi kit fitted also had different exhaust tips (these were slighttly bigger and stuck out more)..

Because we put the motegi rear lip the exhaust tips are now hidden away.. You can try moving the tips further forward so they are visible..

I tried searching for motegi Tips but i dnt think i ever came across them and also i never bothered asking in Honda Dealers..

Never knew that about the Motegi tips being longer Confused

There was nothing to remove from my original rear skirt, as the tabs that protruded from it for the bumper clips were part of the actual moulded bumper. It does look like some sort of bracket is meant to fit onto the Motegi skirt to extend it. Perhaps if we can get an idea of what its meant to look like I can make one Very Happy

I have a similar problem with my rear bumper, nothing changed but the "stabilisers" that hold the bottom of the bumper to the body no longer line up :/

Anyway, it looks like your rear silencer isn't hanging correctly, not low enough, is it an aftermarket silencer? have you checked the hangers to make sure they're on correctly and no zip tied up?

Yes i think you have to remove the adapter of the original and then fit. I will check tomorrow as im doing the same although i have stripped all my paint i just did on the skirt and started again. Never rubbed the filler down properly on one part.

Ah nice one Nitin, I thought it may be something like that Wink

No chance there'd be a yellow one of those laying around your garage?

I wonder if I can get one from Honda?

Thanks for getting under the car and snapping that pic for me, did you see if there was a plastic adapter for both of the supports that come off the car? There is one support by the exhaust (pictured) and one on the other side of the car too. They are different shapes, so I guess each one has it's own plastic adapter?

Maxx, nah the exhaust is stock and hanging perfectly, may just be the angle of the pic Wink

Ratty, that's bad luck mate, but good on ya for DIY'ing it dude! Very Happy

This bit was next to the exhaust like u said.. And also the other one on the otherside doesnt connect to anything in mycar.. Coz there is no link next to it to put the exhaust adapter... Rolling Eyes So one bit has got the adapter and the other one doesnt have it in my car.. Idea

I believe the larger exhausts tips were supplied on the H22A8 Preludes and were not specific to the Motegi. Here's a photo of my (H22A8) 2000 Prelude 2.2VTi exhaust:

Mine have been modified slightly though - the exhaust tail pipes have been extended by 4.5 cm. Metal pipes of the same diameter of the car's exhaust pipes have been inserted in the dual chrome exhaust tail pipe trims. I done this so the exhaust fumes are further away from the car's body work.

Ah, I see, nice one Adam. I'll look into that. Any chance you can have a peek under your rear bumper and see if the Motegi lip has 1 or 2 plastic adapters attaching it to the car at the bottom.

Nitin, I just noticed that in this pic of your 2 rear lips, you can see the adapter on the blue one. I have to try and track one down me thinks.

I can confirm that it's got two, both of those metal mounting arms sticking out from the back of the boot are used by the lip.

I'm quite familiarised with fitting Motegi kit as I personally fitted it to my previous 1997 Prelude and my current 2000 Prelude and have refitted it since getting the front and back resprayed during April this year.
