Just been respraying my motegi kit to got on the S. And yes its a Diamond white pearl tri-coat.

Oh dear....but what the hell...how bad can it be....turns out...quite good actually.

So i got a base coat and midtone made up at Halfords. £11 per 300ml can.
- Rubbed the rear lip down and bodyfill the scratches and cracks and rub down.
- Etch primmed
- Wet and dried using 800grit do the etch and rub and couple of times.
- Applied base coat after a 1minute soak in hot water.
- Rubbed down with 1000 grit and did again a couple of times. So 3 coats
- Applied midtone and didnt rub down. Did 3 coats.
- Then applied 3 layers of laquer.

Literally just finished and its drying ready to be rubbed down with 1500 grit tomorrow.
No pics yet but it looks good and pearly.
BUT BY ALL MEANS NO WAY NEAR SPRAY GUN QUALITY but as a temporary fix its ideal.
Couple of drips and areas where i didnt rub down the bodyfiller properly and there is alot of orange peel that i hope will reduce tomorrow after a good wet rubbing.

Quite pleased really. Will start the skirts although the big question is how will it match up to the car. We will see tomorrow.

Whats everyone elses jobs like?

Sanded then lightly, primed and then spray painted with Hammerite Smooth.

Very pleased with the results, although it does chip quite easily, but marks can be touched up.

Bit more on them in my project thread here -

Also the (crap) horns have been sprayed gloss black and the bracket for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control solenoid valve has been sprayed matt black.

On my to do list are the wiper arms and battery tie down bracket.

Sprayed my lude matt black back in June 2007.

Used £90 worth of Halfords primer and matt black spray cans over the course of a weekend. All the paint was prepped properly, with the old stuff being cleaned, keyed and dried before priming. Didn't wetsand anything (other than keying to begin with), just fired the paint on and rebuilt the car.

Over two years, 2 trackdays, 20,000 miles, and two trips across the continent later it's holding up pretty well Cool
