i love the care given to that Wink

my lude (no 3 Rolling Eyes ) will, i hope, be with me for a long time. every penny i spend to maintain it is money well spent and always will be.
it came to me in pretty good nick thou.......

the missus FTO is another thing altogether Rolling Eyes

but this also will be made whole and good in the fullness of time Cool

we are now deciding on a durv estate so neither of us has to take our pets onto those nast salt roads Wink

some of the resto work done on here astounds me. the lude is a great piece of kit and iv often enjoyed everyone elses dedication to learning and implementing that knowledge. other forums and other car owners are not the same.

The busiest thread on the FTO owners club is the 'SPOTTED' Laughing

says alot.

good find rich. worth every pixel Wink

Well put thread.

They're getting to that age now where most are falling to the scrap man but the love by us as enthusiasts is still here. More and more are being saved and 'Projects' are becoming more and more popular - most intending for long term keeps. I think there will be a few of us on here who simply won't leave the fold. Mine is a working project - always something I want to do to it - always room for improvement.

Watched that guy on HT for a while now - the colour is an amazing choice, the colour bounces of the pearl metallic. His wheels inspired my Volk purchase and I'll be over the moon if I can get the lips and centre caps anywhere near that shiny.

Let's keep this car alive people. A future rare classic for sure. Cool

I skimmed most of it tbh Embarassed but did try to see the things done, i must of missed the RHD stuff, but yeah, seems they do like it to a slightly silly degree Wink

That white is awesome, i agree, love it to bits, made me wonder if i shouldn't of gone extra pearl i mine or something, then i saw it in bright sunshine today.... it doesn't need it, when it's clean and the suns on it strong, it's really bright and pearly Smile

Sometimes all it takes is seeing another car, or indeed someone else seeing your car to remind you why you have it, glad you got those bits sorted, Rich, as you said, you had them, just hadn't done anything with them.
As i mentioned, your wheels suit it nicely, didn't see them clean, but i know if you'll do the right thing to make the car look good.

It's got me thinking black for my Volk centres with a red flake/red pearl lacquer - have I lost the plot or would it look pretty cool? Confused

That's a cracking looking car, but for me, the wheels let it down big time.

That's called a balanced and differing opinion in my world mate Cool
On some forums that would be classed as bitching or dissin someone's ride Rolling Eyes

I can understand that the wheels aren't to everybody's taste but for me it makes a refreshing change to see a Lude on that style of wheel rather than the usual 6 / 7 spokes. I actually think they suit the car and it's style perfectly but they wouldn't suit many that's for sure.

this is why i'm just about to spend probably over £400 on a lude that my girlfriend calls 'the shed' that i didnt pay much over that much for in the 1st place.. that was supposed to be a cheap track toy

and why 2ndly in about a month or 2's time my other lude is going into the bodyshop for a full overhaul then once thats finished i'm booking it into richy to get a full engine overhaul too Cool
ppl say i could spend all that money on buying a new car
but would that new car be anywhere near as good as a lude? i think not
plus then i know that i've got a lude with no bodywork problems or engine problems
thats also something i cant get by breaking the 1's i have and spending money on other 2nd hand ludes for sale that look like minters... 6 months down the line they could go the same way

Exactly, people don't complain when you spent 10k on a new car, what's the difference in spending half that on an older car?

They'll probably say, well it's not new, but, ask yourself this, why does it have to be new? and why is new any better?

Funny you should say that Mart609. I bought mine as a cheap run around for a few months and then to use the engine in the Accord.

A year later, i've spent a small fortune and sorted out almost every little niggle, had all the rust done, fitted a lip kit and it's taken the spot in the garage from the poor old Accord!

The Accord is still a nicer car, but the Prelude is much more fun and now much more of a head turner!

think it helps to have the right contacts (such as PA)

the modding/restoring game has many pitfalls, if your a noob your gonna get raped, I got ripped off when I started messing with cars

now older and wiser, I would do a few things different, so understand why inexperienced modders would just buy a new car

I find that comment a bit eliteist if you fancy a different car it may not have anything to do with modding or being a noob we all have ludes in common but there is a lot of cars i would sooner have and its nothing to do with being inexperianced just a new set of challenges and obviously more power.

Tony.

yeah I'm just saying might be a reason for somebody

working in insurance, people come in and say I've bought a new car

what make/model is it?

um I dunno Laughing

you would be surprised how many people spend thousands on a car but have no idea about it except that it looks nice

for example if they new how reliable that new renault is and cost of repairs or maintence to change a light bulb Laughing would they buy the pretty clio?

How can people complain about the wheels? Laughing

That car is an inspiration....from holes in the block to a heavy front ender to the gorgeous rebuild you see now - that's some serious dedication Cool

Once again I find myself wanting to keep mine forever...I just hope I can afford to, with 3000ish miles going on it each month Laughing
