Ive done it on a private airfield before, but ive never reached a top speed and looked down at the clocks!

I did look down at full tilt once, that was sat at the 145mph mark.
Not a speed i want to do again, even without cars and stuff in your way, its bloody scary seeing birds flying out of your way, half a mile infront, and still nearly hitting them Laughing

Yeah 160 is abit optimistic i think, i don't believe the gearbox can handle it.

Maybe im wrong...

I think when i did that top speed, it was revving at around 7-7.5K, so it really couldn't do much more without gearbox work i doubt.... Think

1995 UK spec BB1 with 4WS and all the toys, plus mugen suspension and a rusty fartcan mugen-lookalike exhaust: 149mph on a TomTom with the speedo needle on 150mph and the tach in the red, and probably within about 750rpm of the limiter.

Also, same car but with a new custom downpipe-back exhaust, but loaded to the roof with luggage:
152mph on TomTom and I don't know how many revs because I had to move the hell out of the way of a 911 turbo that was approaching from behind, while travelling slightly ahead of his own sound shockwave Laughing

FAO Internet Police:

First one was at RAF Marham on the mile long straight they set up as part of the circuit on charity trackdays.

Second one was on a derestricted section of German Autobahn, so stick that in your pipe and choke on it.

i have got 146 out off my lude at 7000rpm, while i was over in germany

but that was just indicated speed, it was more like 136 as they over read at higher speeds

my engine wasnt very well so dint want to take it into the red

150ish unless you change your final drive ratio or take off the rev limiter....it'll be limited by the gearing ultimately, and that's why I never believe a word from people who claim to have taken lightly modded ITRs and Preludes over 155.

The difference between my car doing 149 and 152 was about 5 miles of road Laughing At Marham I had to brake but in Germany I could just let it go, and those last 3mph ticked by achingly slowly. At that rate of acceleration you'd run out of fuel before 160 Laughing

Word of warning - my ex girlfriend was from Cheltenham which I see is your location. She got banned for 3 months after being caught speeding somewhere around there in her MR2 at about 135 Shocked Laughing Do it in Germany, or a suitable trackday if you value your licence Laughing
Or pm me for a suggestion if you want one Razz
