|
|
Hi guys. Cos of trees in my driveway, i have to wash my car at least once a week. After reading all the detailing stuff, i duno if i'll ever get round to clay barring and glazing, sealing etc, even though ive wanted to for some time now.
But anyhow, main question....knowing how long polishing and waxing alone took, im wondering...when i wash my car in between, do i have to wax again too?
Mind you, i used the meguires stuff and do wana put somethin better on there. but knowing i'll have to wash it again after short periods is putting me off. ive got no other options for my main parking, and family dont wana see any of the trees gone. So im dreading having to wax again after each wash. specially if i get an expensive wax. Not to forget spending spendin 2-3 hours each time i clean the car, considering how often i have to wash it.
Cheers

I've been critisised for this but I just throw a bit of wax in the bucket with the car shampoo every time I wash it. Definately helps keeps the seal topped up between proper sessions.
Depending on how much you've put in and what wax it is you may need a little extra rinsing, preferbly with HOT water. _________________ My Car, Alphanumerically: 1992 JDM BB1 2.2 Si VTEC 2.2 DOHC with M2B4 LSD and 4WS in NH-552M. |

A good wax should offer protection for 3 to 6 months.
You can always top up the shine/protection with a quick detailer or spray on type top up wax. _________________

Well, since i get the washing bit done from a hand car wash (until i get myself a pressure washer and snow foam), i cant mix any wax in it.
But i was thinkin along the lines of the spray on type as mentioned. madmaxx has recommended one in some other threads.
That's after i do one coat with some good quality wax first tho.
Cheers,

i wax as part of my wash.
wash as you would then use a drying towel on each panel and work in some wax with a light cloth when its just a bit streeky. this way you pick up any bits of water left and are assured of a water spot free shine. as you go round you dry each panel and wax. pick up the bits that always drip as you go as well.
whole thing takes 65mins there abouts and you get a new layer of wax every week.
i use collinite 915 and a sprayers cloth to apply so the wax goes on and the water comes off to be squeezed. iv found collinite likes to be applied with a little moisture so this way works a treat. |

Colly 915 can last up to 6 months! You don't need to apply it each week! Only apply a new layer when the beading is less effective. _________________

Wow, yeah, colly is up to 6 months with two coats, don't go overboard with it
Also, the swissvax stuff is nice, but silly money and un-needed imho.
Currently use, CG XXX hardcore for light duties, CG 50/50 for special occasions, BH Autobalm for good protection and FK1000P for my long term colly equivalent. _________________
