Ok guys & gals, this has been talked about & hinted at for a while now, but those involved have finally pulled their finger out and have organised a dedicated PUK National Meet, which also incorporates a 'Drive-Out' around some of the very best driving roads in the UK!
The Meet
PreludeUK traditionally attends 3 big events 'en-masse' throughout the year, those being Japshow, JAE and Japshow Finale. With those being held in June, September and October respectively this year, it has left a large hole in the social calender throughout the Summer.
A dedicated PreludeUK National meet has long been discussed, so we thought we'd give one a try and see what the members response was like

.
N.Wales has been picked as a venue for a few reasons, the most obvious being that most of the members involved in organising it happen to come from around this area. Also though, it is fairly central to the UK as a whole (the event is happening in N.E. Wales, just across from the English border), and we have tied it into a bit of a 'drive-out' for any members who are interested (see below).
The actual 'meet' part of the event will be held at a venue across the way from Bri's house, in Chirk, N.Wales. We will have full use of the club-house's facilities & grounds, so camping is welcome. We also hope to have the PreludeUK mansion erected, and maybe a communal BBQ for a party after we come back from the drive
The Drive-Out
The route for the drive-out has been carefully planned, so as to incorporate a number of the best driving roads in the area. So, what makes a great driving road? Well, for a start it must have:
a. Very little road traffic.
b. Challenging cambers, bends and chicanes, as well as looonnng, fast straights
c. Fantastic scenery.
d. Good condition road surfaces (no pot-holes)
After drawing on the personal experience of local members, and from hours of painlessly trawling through drivers experiences on other car forums, a short list of the absolute very best driving roads in the UK has been drawn up. Around 80% of these roads are situated right here in N.Wales, so a roughly circular route has been planned, for a Gumball style drive-out, where we can all actually enjoy our chosen hobby in it's natural environment... on the road
The route itself is currently under wraps, as I'm not sure if posting it up on the public forum could attract the interest of the plod, and have them positioned along the route on purpose

, but if everyone wants it made public then I will happily post it up for everyone. If not, then a copy will be handed out to all members on the day, along with directions & instructions.
For now then, I can reveal that the route will start and finish 1300 ft up, at the Ponderosa Cafe on the Horseshoe Pass (postcode LL20 8DR), and the whole drive-out will last approx two & a half hours from start to finish, with a couple of stops along the way for refreshments & photo opportuniutes etc. It will obviously include a number of famous driving landmarks like the Evo Triangle, and will be on wide, duel-lane B-roads all the way (no single track hill climbing

), across moorland, forest sections & mountain passes.
Just to wet your appetites, here are a selection of enthusiast photo's taken at various points along the route
I would also just like to stress that this is in no way any kind of race, and participants will be expected to be on their best behaviour at all times, and obey all speed limits. PreludeUK and the events organisers can accept NO responsibility for any accidents or offences etc, however if everyone drives sensibly, then there is no reason to worry
I have currently pencilled this in for the 8th & 9th August, but there is room to shift this if enough people say they need too. The time the drive-out starts is also flexible, but lets say around 12 noon to start off with.
Anybody interested, stick your name down
