i used mr clutch for my first car, it was a nissan pulsar and i have to say i cant fault them at all! it took half the time they told me it would take, so only cost half what i was quoted! was more than happy with that result! Laughing

but im refering to the bristol/bath branch so other branches may be different! but they are a huge player in the clutch replacement field so you wont go far wrong with them

hope this helps a little mate Smile

I've just had mine done on Thursday at the Oxford branch. They told me to expect to fetch it on Friday but it was ready on Thursday afternoon. And it cost me £300 less than Honda quoted me!

Well i just had a look at that web site and they dont get a favourable review.

but you guys were alright. i wonder if its relatively easy to do the clutch on a prelude.

How much did you guys pay in the end?

paul

£295 including new gearbox oil (£23) As it turns out, I need a new gearbox now anyway. But that's a different story.

I used Mr Clutch in High Wycombe.

They offer a warranty on their work, and you get free inspections every x miles.

I had a problem initially in that the clutch wasn't too smooth. They inspected it and told me it should be alright after it had time to bed in.

Sure enough the problem has gone away.

It's worth going on the website and seeing if they have any vouchers to print off. I got £10 off my clutch Smile

Mr Clutch Swindon gave me my car back without the expansion tank. When i went back after spotting it shortly after, they said "oh", found it on the workshop floor and put it back in without even an apology.

The clutch juddered and even after 5k miles it was still juddering, their "check" (which involves driving it round the block and then trying to pull off with the handbrake on) resulted in "it's still bedding in mate". Another 5k later it still judders, but i just can't be arsed to take it back.

They are cheap for a reason.

Their reviews aint so good for a reason, and like shiny said, they're also cheap for a reason. My dad's accord a while back, in the wandsworth branch....forget juddering, another mechanic found the clutch in pieces when the car started playing up a few days after the install from mr. clutch....what about the warranty? (remember, this is just a few days after the "new" clutch was put in) - aparently, my dad drove it too hard or sumthin- not coverable by the warranty.

not convinced? few years later now, south wimbledon branch. this time its a previa. judders like mad! i feel so stupid driving it, cos u either judder like a learner, or u rev the sh!t out of it to get goin smoothly. n we didnt even get the bedding in excuse. he sat in it, drove it forward n bakward about 20yards, said its fine. so again, they wont do anything about it.

There's another thread about mr. clutch a few months bak. not sure if i can find it now.

Im sure u get som honest people working at the odd branch, but i wouldnt risk it with mr. clutch again.

Also, not sure how true this is, but i heard they use reconditioned parts and thats where they save money. but like i sadi, thats wat i heard, so dont quote me on that.

I just rang the High Wycombe Mr Clutch because I'm getting a little worried about mine, and they quoted £316 all inclusive....I did ask what parts they were using since that's around what the parts alone cost from Honda, and he confirmed it was a Mr Clutch part.

On the plus side, labour only is £200 if you supply your own bits, so it's still one of the cheapest places going.

I used Mr CLutch in Hemel Hempstead once and i will never use one ever again. stealing, lying, diseased anal wart human beings. they can all die for all i care the way they treat people. i had the same thing.. juddering clutch after 4k and they said it was fine and i know it wasnt. kicked up a fuss they told me to leave so i went to CAB and trading standards and ripped the cunts apart.

Hmm....well my previous post notwithstanding, I can't ignore that many bad reports, so I've just had a conversation with Richy at Performance Autoworks and it's booked in there for pretty much the same price as asking Mr Clutch to fit an OEM part....I know where I'd prefer it to be done Cool

yh, like i said, there may be sum branches where u can supply your own parts and they will fit them right too, but with as many bad reports (look up reviews online), even if you have to pay a little mor else where (lucky if you found a similar quote tho), why risk it?

Cheers for the replys guys. hate-ok

seems that they are not getting a favourable review. think i'll be giving them a miss.
The only thing with performance autoworks is that there a fair distance from me, even though i'd love to use them.

You can always come back to my house for a coffee while you wait for the clutch to be fitted Wink

Or go fishing on the nearby lakes...
