|
|
Right then peeps, recently, I have bought myself two high-level 'Prelude' brake lights for my 4th gen only to find double-sided tape stuck to the back of the 'Prelude' lens, which stops the wording from lighting up when you brake. Pretty sure that this is the original tape that was stuck to the lights too.
Is it me or doesn't it kind of defeat the object having a lens which is supposed to light up the word 'Prelude' if Honda (or whoever else it may be) go and stick tape on the back of it to stop any light shining through it?
I had a go at getting the tape off the back of the lens on my first light and found a white area covering the wording, that I am assuming is there to allow the letters to light up:
Unfortunately though, when trying to get the tape off, I ended up scratching away some of this white transparency, which consequently f*cked up the lens
Due to this, I didn't even bother attempting to get the tape off the second lens but JDM-BB4 kindly made me one instead
What I want to know is do/did all the 'Prelude' lenses come with this tape on the back and if so, what's the reason for it?
Cheers,
Darren |

Can't really answer the tape question as I just have the brake light added recently (in fact I still need to wire it up! ), but you say JDM-BB4 made you the Prelude cut-out?
If so, how good is that. Wait for reply before I go bug him with PM's... _________________

Yep, he did indeed make it and I was dead impressed with the job he did and for a very reasonable cost. Certainly worth asking him about them mate |

Can someone clarify something for me please.
There seem to be two types of high level light.
One is a red brake light, and the other has the Prelude text.
Is the one with the Prelude text also a brake light or just an illuminated sign?
They normally illuminate bluey/green. Brake lights, by law have to be red. _________________

As Colin said, though I have been told that you can use as many brake lights (within reason) as long as they all work properly and are all red, so I am running four now (inc. spoiler light). |

That's the one I want!
Did you wire it up yourself or was it on the car when you bought it?
If you wired it yourself, was the loom in the roof lining already? _________________

I have a facelift BB4 and I've just been out and removed the roof lining.
There was no evidence of any wiring or connectors that I could see.
I think I'll give up on the idea for now. _________________
