i tried a turtle wax rubbing compound, its ok, if i was gonna do my whole car i'd buy some better stuff i think

I do have a electric polisher, but like I said just gave it a quick go

so do you have to machine it? would you recommend a machine polisher or is it possible to do by hand but takes longer?

You'll need a rotary machine polisher or a DA (dual action) polisher, with adjustable RPM.
