I thought id start one on these guys.

i took my beloved Type S to see rich at P.A. for the following

Health check
cambelt
auto tentioner
valve clearences
timing
front bearings
suspension geometry.

this was the final step in my full service.

First off i was impressed at the cleanlyness of the bays and the happy smile that greeted me, i left my car and was able to borrow one of theirs as it would be in for two days.

i got a call saying that infact the bearings were fine but the track rod ends were trashed. ''go for it'' i said.

so it turns out that for all the work mentioned as well as the track rod ends, purchase and fitting, and a very good poke around the car cost under 700notes. happy man.

rich is very knowledgable and sorted a few things on the car that were not in the original works list.

driving the car is a different beast. it now feels tight and ready at every point. the steering is positive and acurate, the ride is smoother yet feels much more planted and the engine is smoother all round.

for anyone within an hour of gloucestershire i would highly recommend Performance Autoworks for your lude needs (or any car)

i know a lot of you have used them and i recognise other peoples recommendations here, without those i wouldnt have known where to go.

Thanks Performance Autoworks

I only ever take my car there now. ( i even held off from getting my teins super streets fitted for about 8months just so i could time it with other bits and bobs and getting my car there.)

it might be a further to travel. but at least you know you won't be going back the next day to ask them to do it again!

See here for my visits to PAW:

Argh, why can't decent people be closer to me.

I've for my car to get a general check over, particularly the suspension and anything else that looked worth checking.

3 hours away Sad

I need to come up with a plan and see how long this would take and if a saturday would work.

Good to see that he must have got the right track rod ends for the Type S then as they are different from VTIs.

Might take the Type S there when its back on the road for tracking.

Cheers James, really glad you're happy with the work and how the car feels now Cool
You've got a nice base to build on now and a very healthy engine with excellent leak down and compression results - very tidy car Very Happy

Just a little correction - it wasn't your track rod ends that were replaced it was your steering rack tie rods.
They aren't "officially" listed for the Type-S but I know from previous experiance that the VTi ones are exactly the same with the exception of being 4mm longer overall. This is very easily taken up in adjustment on the track rod ends during the geometry set up.

Just thought I'd mention that in case anybody else is struggling with Type-S parts

Rich, what's the availability of you guys on the weekends and how long would it take you to do checks and servicing of the suspension parts?

went to PA yesterday, never had better service from a garage

friendly, and they finished the work in one day I had quite a few bits done.

they also solved all my issues, nice to have a garage that thinks out the box but I consider these guys specialists, car is running great.

recommend the 4ws geometery, no bullshit setup of your 4ws was well worth it..

so keep it up PA hate-ok will be coming back if I need stuff done, its abit far but worth it for piece of mind.
