Been planning to do this for quite a while, had the clay for about 3 months and was just waiting for the weather to improve.

Excuse the pics, didn't realise the lens was dirty 'till I upped the pictures. Crying or Very sad

Started on Thursday

Washed with Morrisons own washing up liquid to remove all traces of wax and polish.

Then clayed for 3 1/2 hours.
Amazing stuff, bits that I thought were little stone chips turned out to be crap in the paint. This is when I finished.

Gave it a wash with Megs Gold Class Shampoo afterwards and called it a day 'cos I was knackered.

Friday morning started again with another wash with the Megs and dried with a towel. Then tried Poorboys SSR1 swirl remover because my bonnet is a maze of swirls and oxidised paint. Didn't have very good results so I think next time I'll look for a more aggressive compound.

Then it was Poorboys White Diamond Polish and finished with Megs Gold Class Wax.

Even got the Autosol out for the stupid exhaust, too bloody loud by far.

Took a couple this morning after cleaning the camera lens Smile

I also have Megs Stages 2 & 3 and autoglyms SRP but I'm not very impressed with them, Just need to buy a better polish and wax that works well on white cars so I'm open to suggestions.

The best time to wash your car is when it's cool and overcast.

Looking good!

Did you work the polish by hand or by machine?

I'm guessing it's by hand, hard work :/

Clean your glass, inside and out, it will significantly improve the look of the car overall Smile

Paint's looking pretty good now though Smile

Bloody cheek Very Happy I did clean the glass, just the screen from certain angles shows smears. I need to get a better glass cleaner.

I have got a silverline polisher but the lambs wool bonnet is shagged so I polished / waxed by hand because I'm not too good with the foam pads as they seem to drag a bit.

Both bumpers need respraying, the fronts got enough scrapes showing black through it and the rear has crazing where the bumpers flexed and not the paint.

For hand polishing you really have to work the polish for quite some time to get the desired effect and it is very hard work. Also polishing in the sun on hot panels doesn't give very good results.

There s a good read on hand polishing here -

don't bother buying specialist glass cleaners .... just get JIF! but don't let it get anywhere else other than glass ... to be on the safe side, spray it on lint free cloth and then wipe the glass.

best thing still imho is the old style ...... NEWSPAPERS Wink
