Can you tell us
1) what seam sealant is?
2) what it's for?
3) why you are removing it
4) why you're welding them up?

I don't know if you have the time or patience, but if you can spare 10-15 mins, could you PM me with some details on how you got over the issues of running such power through your h22? Im looking to set mine up around 300hp with a supercharger, but I dont want it to blow up in my face. Also, I dont want to spend more than I have to, and CERTAINLY dont want to be paying an engine tuner 80 quid an hour along with huge money for a standalone or piggyback module over here (would much sooner buy a flash, or a piggyback from the states and learn to tune myself). The more advice you can give me the better mate and would be surpremely appreciated! |
Why in a PM?
I'm sure when he's ready he will post it here. |

At a guess the sealant is to stop rust forming in the seams.
I may be totally wrong here, but i think welding the seams increases the chassis rigidity. But you don't fully weld the seams more weld a bit leave a gap weld again, else there would be no give in the chassis at all.
It's only what i've picked up from Drift car builds, so I'm not sure that's right. |
